Since the Postdoctoral experience is transitional to becoming an independent researcher or faculty member, the Postdoctoral tries their best to acquire the varied skills necessary to advance their career with guidance from the advisor. These skills include, but are not limited to, the ability to present research plans and findings in a convincing style, both in oral and written modes of communication, the ability to understand research group management and supervision of others, the ability to establish contacts and network with colleagues pursuing a similar research agenda, the ability to organize and teach a class or a course if more inclined towards a teaching career.
The job will be developed in the framework of the internally funded project “Development of smart glass with self-cleaning and infrared-shielding properties for energy-efficient buildings”. The post-doc is expected to provide high quality research and support the principal investigator in writing reports, articles and patents and supervising students.
The post-doctoral researcher will be preparing multilayered film deposited on glass operating in the clean rooms of Khalifa University (Masdar Campus). He/she will characterize the same films by using a number of techniques ranging from electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy to spectroscopic techniques. Finally he/she will characterize the materials in terms of superhydrophilic and self-cleaning properties and will test them in the abatement of VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). He/she will work at the preparation of reports, drafts of papers and patents.
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related fields
Experience in desirable in chemical wet labs, sputtering, e-beam evaporation, atomic layer deposition, spectroscopic techniques, microscopy and chemical reaction engineering
