As a direct consequence of the continuing expansion of the school, the Institute of Architecture is seeking to appoint an outstanding Senior Lecturer in Architecture, with specialisms in the areas of sustainability and environmental technology, to contribute to teaching across all courses (BSc Hons. Architecture, Master of Architecture, BSc Hons. Architectural Technology) and to establish and build upon our existing practice and industrial links.

The Institute has won a series of awards in recognition of its excellent teaching provision and student work, including success at the 2018 Educate North Awards, and as winner of the prestigious 2018 UNESCO Prix De Versailles Student Awards.
In the last year, both the BSc Hons. Architecture course and the BSc Hons Architectural Technology course completed highly successful respective RIBA and CIAT validation visits. The role will build upon these successes, and help us deliver upon our aspiration to become an internationally significant Institute of Architecture. You will also be expected to contribute to our new Master of Architecture course - fully validated in 2016, it is developing into an established and vibrant programme at part II.
We are looking for a dynamic team member with knowledge and teaching/lecturing experience, together with an expansive knowledge of architectural practice, particularly in the area of sustainability and environmental technology. Applicants should be world-class, globally design-oriented architects, technologists and teachers, able to contribute to contemporary debate on architectural education to inspire our students.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide high quality teaching in design, technology and practice within the remit of the jointly held criteria for parts 1 and parts 2 and CIAT criteria of the architecture / architectural technology qualifications, and will be responsible for coordinating delivery of modules. The ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Architectural studies and skill in adapting to work with students in lecturing, seminar and workshop situations is essential.
The Institute leads global multidisciplinary networks on research and learning in multiple areas, from Additive Manufacturing to Sustainable City Strategies. Applicants should be interested in cutting-edge practice based research to encourage experimentation in student work and build upon the existing research strengths of the school.
To be considered for the post, you must hold a good Part 1 RIBA/ARB and Part 2 RIBA/ARB (or equivalent) degree in architecture from a recognised institution; significant and relevant practice /industrial experience and / or a PhD in a relevant discipline. Membership of a relevant professional institution(RIBA/ARB or equivalent) is required.
