Role and Responsibilities 

The Industry Fellow, Occupational Hygiene is expected to contribute to the teaching and research activities of the School in the areas of Occupational Hygiene. The successful candidate would have certification as Certified Occupational Hygienist or equivalent, and have areas of occupational hygiene expertise obtained in a range of industries. Expertise includes, but is not restricted to, toxicology, monitoring and control of chemical, physical and biological hazards. The Industry Fellow will also be responsible for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and professional capabilities relevant to this discipline. The Industry Fellow is expected to actively promote the discipline by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Industry Fellow is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation.

The Industry Fellow will supervise research students in postgraduate research programs; contribute to the School research efforts, including research publications and competitive grant applications; offer effective participation and initiative in the development of face to face and online courses. They will be expected to contribute to the teaching and course development within the OHS programs within the school. 

Skills and Experience Required

You will have extensive occupational hygiene experience at a senior level in a range of industries and an ability to prepare and deliver courses and to develop innovative approaches to course delivery and student-centred learning that successfully exploits new technologies. You will also have the ability to contribute to the design of high quality programs in OHS and related disciplines. Furthermore, your ability to undertake independent research which will contribute to existing School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and the building of government and industry links will be essential to your success in this role.
