About the roles

3 positions are available, the appointments are:

Lecturer (Level B) in Accounting (all areas) $103,047 - $121,478 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

  • 5-year fixed term tenure track
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Successful candidate may receive an income supplementation

2 Senior Lecturers (Level C), preferably with expertise in Auditing or Management Accounting $125,160 – $143,593 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

  • 5-year fixed term tenure track
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Successful candidate may receive an income supplementation

About the successful applicant

The School of Accounting at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, Australia seeks to make four new appointments for exceptional candidates to deliver outstanding teaching and student experience into undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, as well as research and engagement in the school, evidenced by a high level of past performance in research, teaching and service/or potential, relative to the level of appointment.

The position involves teaching in the areas of Auditing, Financial Accounting or Management Accounting for Level B position, and teaching in the areas of Auditing or Management Accounting for Level C positions.

To be successful in this role you will have:

At Level B:

  • A PhD degree in Accounting or related discipline (or equivalent research record) or expected to complete their degree requirements within three months of commencing this role.
  • Expected or demonstrated excellence in publishing in top accounting journals.
  • A demonstrated ability for teaching and curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in Accounting.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • An ability to supervise honours and postgraduate research students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain research funding and participate in collaborative research and educational projects.
  • Willingness to be involved with and contribute to the accounting profession.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

At Level C:

As specified in Level B, plus

  • A PhD degree in Accounting or related discipline with preference for specialisation in Auditing.
  • A track record in publishing high quality research in leading Accounting journals.
  • A track record of successful curriculum development and improvements at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in Accounting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of blended and online teaching and learning pedagogies.
  • A track record in successfully applying for competitive research grants.
  • Capability and willingness to mentor early career academic staff.
