Charles Darwin University (CDU) delivers educational programs across Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Higher Education in each of its campuses and centres and to over 150 communities throughout the Northern Territory. With campuses in Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Jabiru and Nhulunbuy and interstate in NSW and Victoria, CDU is well placed to provide quality education and training to students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to participate.
Located within the Faculty of VET, the Community and Children’s Services, English Language, Literacy & Numeracy delivers nationally accredited and non-accredited training in the areas of Community Services, Allied Health, Early Childhood Education and Care, and Education Support. The School comprises of teams that concentrate on Language, Literacy and Numeracy disciplines providing pathways both within the school and the broader VET Faculty, including Adult Literacy and Numeracy, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Learner Support.
As the Head of School you are a member of the VET Executive Leadership Group and contribute to the strategic planning and management of the Faculty of Vocational Education and Training. Success in this appointment will hinge upon your ability to foster enduring relationships with the community, government and industry. Forging these relationships will maximise the delivery of VET programs and services aligned with the social and economic development plans in the Northern Territory.
Reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor VET, you will have full responsibility for the management, budgeting and training delivery for the School, both on campus, on-line and at regional and remote locations across the vast Northern Territory.
Your duties include, communicating and managing the development, implementation and evaluation of operational plans, policies, processes and systems to achieve delivery goals, strategic objectives, and to measure and report performance. You will proactively embrace innovation and change management strategies and offer the capacity to make and implement decisions which grow CDU’s VET footprint locally, nationally and internationally.
To be successful, you will need relevant qualifications and proven education leadership and management expertise. Your application should be supported with a high level understanding of tertiary education and training, particularly in the context of Health, Community and Children’s Services.
An appreciation of the challenges of delivery in regional and remote locations is essential.
