The successful applicant will be a creative, inspirational, academic practitioner with specific skills and industry experience in Fashion.
You will actively contribute to the development of the Fashion Programme and be experienced in learning, teaching and assessment at HE level. An enthusiastic and visionary lecturer who will support and encourage students to achieve their full creative potential, you will have the ability to develop live, collaborative projects and demonstrate a willingness to engage creatively in the wider activities of the School.
You will be a highly professional and committed team player, flexible in approach with excellent communication, timekeeping and organisational skills and be willing to undertake administrative duties associated with the role.
You will possess a strong understanding of contemporary pro-active, issues and current debate within the fashion industry. This will underpin your passion for enhancing your own practice and will inform your knowledge of the skills and attributes required by graduates for employability.
Learning and Teaching
Undertake teaching duties in relation to courses appropriate to your area of expertise (e.g. through practical sessions, lectures, seminars, tutorials):
Contribute to the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of our oversees programmes (e.g. Dubai, Malaysia) as agreed with the Director of Studies;
Undertake scholarly activity related to the effective delivery of the curriculum and maintain the level of your subject expertise in line with the latest developments in Fashion;
In consultation with the Director of Studies contribute to the design and delivery of the curriculum and within the structures and mechanisms established by the School and University;
In consultation with the Director of Studies, prepare and develop a range of learning materials appropriate to the subject area in support of teaching;
Participate in the assessment and moderation across the discipline area, ensuring this is rigorous, fair and clear and undertaken within the policies established by the School and University;
Be responsible for providing effective, well-documented and timely feedback, both formative and summative, to students;
Contribute to the monitoring of the quality of learning and teaching through course monitoring and contribute to quality management processes and enhancement activities across the Fashion Programmes, School and University;
Disseminate good learning and teaching practice across the Fashion team and through other means, e.g. learning and teaching conferences;
Provide appropriate pastoral support recognising the varied cultural backgrounds of the student cohort;
Stay abreast of developments in the pedagogy of Fashion Education and ensure that these developments are reflected in the evolution of the learning and teaching methods employed on the Fashion Programmes;
Interact with staff within and outside the School to support the development of the discipline;
Develop productive working relationships with other members of staff to facilitate effective team working for benefit of the subject area.
We require a minimum Master’s Degree and a PhD would be desirable.
A record of achievement in professional practice commensurate with appointment at this level
Recognised teaching qualification, i.e. PGCert/PGCap or membership/fellowship of higher education academy. Or be committed to achieving this within 2 years of appointment.
Well developed knowledge and understanding of contemporary practice across Fashion and related areas.
Evidence of working within the Fashion industry
Relevant teaching experience and understanding of learning, teaching and assessment at HE level
A strong understanding of Industry needs and the skills required by graduated for employability

The appointment will be made on either a Grade 7 (£31,604 - £38,833) or Grade 8 (£39,992 - £47,722) depending on experience.
