Overview of USC Clinical Trials Centre - Health Hub Morayfield

USC has established a world class Clinical Trials Centre which builds the region’s collective clinical research capacity and delivers innovative and regionally relevant research in consultation with key stakeholders, including local healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical executives, and other key thought leaders.  

The Health Hub Morayfield commenced operations in December 2017 and further stages will offer a fully integrated approach to health care with a compliment of staff by mid-2019 to include approximately 90 doctors, supported by approximately 35 nurses (Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses), specialists, allied health providers and administration staff delivering 24/7 GP, urgent care and allied health services. Leading the way in the provision of innovative patient-centred care, The Health Hub Morayfield offers opportunities for nursing, midwifery, paramedicine, social work, counselling, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, radiology, exercise science, pathology, pharmacology and nutrition and dietetics student clinical placements with plans for up to 80 student places at any one time when the facility is fully operational. 

Overview of the Role

Under the direction of the Manager, Health Hub Morayfield, the Clinical and Education Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of all clinical places across the Health Hub Morayfield. The Coordinator will also be responsible for the assessment of learning outcomes for student nursing placements and completion of relevant documentation. The Coordinator will work closely with faculty Clinical Placement teams to ensure practices at the Health Hub Morayfield are compliant with registration standards and delivery of desired learning outcomes for students. The Coordinator will also be responsible for the management of student placements from other education providers where USC students are not utilising the available placement. 

In addition to student placement activities, the Coordinator will work closely with Health Hub Morayfield staff to contribute to the development and delivery of professional education programs for staff and community education programs. The Coordinator will also support research activities being undertaken at the site.

The Coordinator will identify and coordinate student learning experiences across services taking advantage of the multidisciplinary, integrated care approach at the site, while aligning experiences with required learning outcomes. The Coordinator will conduct regular evaluations of the clinical learning environments, staff engaged in clinical experience support and the experiences of students in these, and provide feedback to organisations, agencies and individuals to support quality improvements.  

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Nursing and have current registration. Previous experience in assessment and coordination of nursing student clinical placements including thorough knowledge of student clinical placement activities within a health care setting would be highly regarded. Candidates with experience in clinical placements and with current registration from other health professions may also be considered. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, strong problem solving, risk assessment and impact analysis abilities and demonstrated understanding of privacy principals governing health information.
