ONS Fellow in Statistics

Can you help shape the future of economic measurement?

As the leading provider of official statistics, the ONS plays a unique part in informing national debate and decision-making across the UK. Our statistics are designed to support a wider public good in government, industry and across third sectors.

In September 2016, ONS established the ONS Fellowships and Economic Expert Working Group (EEWG) in response to Professor Sir Charles Bean’s independent review of UK economic statistics to help advise us on our ambitious plans to improve our economic statistics. Two years later we are now looking to recruit a new ONS Fellow to continue the invaluable work of this Group.

This role will be dynamic, varied, and fast-paced, enabling you to use your skills to the full. You will share expert knowledge with the ONS by providing guidance and assurance on the development of ONS Economic  Statistics, and helping to deliver methodological improvements to ONS outputs and National Statistics.

Building on your impressive reputation as a leader in economic statistics that you have developed through your experience in academia, industry or the private sector, you will provide ‘hands-on’ support and constructive challenge to our teams, delivering bespoke analysis or short reports as necessary to help us find and deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
