About the job

A fixed term contract opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Finance Officer to support the Executive Director (Reconciliation Strategy and Leadership) in the administration of the financial, human and physical resources in the Moondani Toombadool Centre.

The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for:

  • The preparation, analysis, monitoring and reporting processes for budgets and financial plans; 
  • Management of accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Ensuring appropriate approval processes are adhered to
  • Authorising payment of sessional staff; and responsible management of physical resources within the Centre

This role will provide staff with authoritative advice on University systems, policies and procedures related to the management of financial, human and physical resources. The incumbent will also be expected to review existing process, make recommendations for improvements, and assist as required in the development of unit business processes.

The ideal candidate will need to possess well-developed organisational, time management and problem solving skills, be extremely flexible, have the ability to use initiative and be responsive to the needs of those that the position directly supports.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • A tertiary qualification (preferably in accounting or finance) with subsequent relevant experience or extensive experience in a senior administration role with finance and resource management responsibility, preferably within the Higher Education sector
  • An understanding, and experience in the use of computerised management information systems is essential. Particular experience with Finance 1 and Activiti is highly desirable 
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and the interpretation of financial reports, accounts management and processing along with Demonstrated experience in the management of resources
