The Opportunity

The University of the South Pacific seeks to fill the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Geospatial Science. The appointee will teach undergraduate courses in Geospatial Science, develop research in his/her area of expertise and apply for external research funding, develop and teach short courses for distance and flexible learning (continuing education), undertake administrative tasks as required by the School, Faculty and University.

The Person We Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A PhD in Geospatial Science or a cognate discipline;
  • Expertise in one or more subdisciplines within Geospatial Science;
  • Relevant tertiary teaching experience;
  • A strong record of internationally recognised research and publications.
  • For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level you must also have a strong record of published research in top-tier journals and books with either a formal tertiary teaching qualification or significant tertiary teaching experience.

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Experience working and/or teaching in developing countries;
  • Experience in Distance Teaching and Flexible Learning;
  • Experience with one or more of the following software: ArcGIS, QGIS.


The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range:  Lecturer FJ $66,990 to FJ $88,144 per annum
                          Senior Lecturer FJ $90,882 to FJ $104,865 per annum
