Based in the Sheffield Institute of Arts (SIA), the visual communication subject group is a team of 19 academic practitioners and researchers, teaching progressive, industry engaged courses at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Our national and international industry connections are second to none - meaning our students benefit from learning experiences that prepare them for a career in the creative industries. Significant recent investment in our studio space has also enhanced the student experience, as well as having an impact on our position and visibility within the city's creative and digital industries.

To join our team, you'll be skilled in current, professional graphic design techniques and media. Although some experience of teaching in higher education is desireable, it's your practical, creative industry background that will be vital in this role, giving you:

• Well-developed knowledge of current practice and theoretical trends in visual communication.
• Real-world experience of working with clients on projects, which you can pass on to your students.
• An established network of professional contacts to draw on, enriching your teaching and research.
• The ability to provide supportive critical feedback / context for students
• Graphic Design — Strengths in Typography and digital would be an advantage

You'll also need the ability to design and deliver, high quality, vibrant and challenging learning experiences (including workshops and presentations) which are informed by your professional experiences, to actively engage students in discussion and critique.
