A University Research Priority Program (URPP) on Financial Market Regulation exists at the Law Faculty of the University of Zurich; it is interlinked with the Faculty of Economics. The URPP aims to examine existing regulatory concepts and approaches and to analyze national as well as international regulatory needs and proposals. Its main topics encompass in particular investment banking and asset management, system stability, the Swiss financial market in an international legal environment). Furthermore, the URPP intends to foster young academics. Now the Law Faculty again offers the position of a
Assistant Professor with focus on Financial Market Law (100 %)
in respect of a further time period. The Faculty is looking for a candidate with an excellent doctoral qualification and a convincing habilitation project (planned or already started). Either the doctoral qualification or the habilitation project has to have a financial market law topic. The search committee attaches particular importance to the uniqueness of the scientific work and teaching skills of the applicants. Candidates invited are required to deliver a scientific speech on a main topic mentioned above. This presentation should also show their teaching skills. Subsequently the topic will be discussed with the search committee.
The new assistant professor is expected to represent his/her fields of expertise in research and teaching. The specific job profile will be defined in consideration of the applications received and the level of education of the selected candidate. In addition to his/her tasks in teaching and the university's self-administration applicants will be granted sufficient time for the research on their habilitation project.
The position is open from 1 February 2019 or later. It is for a fixed term of three years with the option of extending the term for another three years.
Tenure track of this position is not foreseen. We welcome applications from persons out of other jurisdictions and/or persons whose native tongue is not German. However, we do expect that the person is willing to acquire the necessary knowledge of Swiss law and/or a very high proficiency in German within two years.
