University of Oxford
The University of Oxford is seeking a new Academic Registrar. The postholder will provide a senior leadership and coordination role across a range of activities relating to the development of student-related services and operations. Reporting to the new Registrar, the appointee will lead the circa 300-strong Academic Administration Division, one of the largest sections of the University’s central services, comprising: Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach, Graduate Admissions, Education Policy Support, Student Registry, Student Systems, Student Welfare and Support Services, the Careers Service, the Language Centre, the Oxford Learning Institute, Student Fees and Funding, and Sport. This is one of the University’s most senior non-academic roles. The Academic Registrar will work in close partnership and collaboration with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), as well as with divisional offices, departments and faculties, and colleges. The role also has a significant external dimension.
The University seeks an outstanding academic administrator with senior leadership experience across a range of relevant services. Most important will be the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across the University, to pull people together across a wide range of services, and to juggle priorities. Individuals must demonstrate intellectual rigour, political astuteness, decisiveness, and a firm but human approach. Candidates must evidence superb people skills with the ability to work at all levels of the institution to improve facilities and services for students and deliver organisational efficiencies. Negotiating and influencing skills will be critical, as will the ability to lead and motivate a highly capable team.
The postholder will be based at the University Offices, Wellington Square in central Oxford, will be supported by administration and communication teams, and will be paid a competitive salary.
The closing date for applications is Friday 13 July 2018.
