Description:

The School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology was founded in 1998, the Institute of Chemistry and Pharmacy be renamed as the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering in 2006.

The Chemistry Discipline of East China University of Science and Technology was established in 1921, on the basis of dye and intermediate specialty, and enrolled the first session graduates in 1956. According to the data published by ESI data, since 2010, Chemistry Discipline is listed in ESI world’s Top1‰ ranking. In the past 65 years, through the tremendous efforts made by several generations of our Chemists, as represented by Ying Hu, Daoben Zhu, Qilin Zhou, He Tian, Xuhong Qian and Yongfang Li, members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and engineering, our School has been recognized as one of the leading institutions in China for chemical research, education, and training of future chemists.

Currently, the School has a total of 227 teaching faculty, among which 60 are full professors and 79 are associate professors. Two of them, were elected as the member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Five professors were recognized for the Changjiang Scholar of Ministry of Education of China. Two experts have received research funding support from National Elite Program(one Youth Elite Program), and one National-level Famous Teacher, six winners of the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, five winners of the National Science Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars.

The School has long been maintained a good reputation for its research in traditional fields and applied chemistry, including inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry and chemical biology. Beyond the basic fields, research in our school is moving into new interdisciplinary fields and has yielded many impressive accomplishments, which have been published and reported in prestigious journals including Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, and Journal of the American Chemical Society and so on.

The Feringa Joint Research Center, named after Ben L. Feringa (Nobel laureate in chemistry 2016), honorary professor of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), was established on October 22, 2017. The mission of the center is to advance chemical research through the profound collaboration between excellent researchers within ECUST and the Ben L. Feringa group in University of Groningen, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research projects. The center will focus on basic and cutting-edge study of precision chemistry, as well as public service and training of future leaders in synthetic and applied chemistry.
The School of Chemistry & Molecular Engineering (http://chem.ecust.edu.cn/) at ECUST invites applicants for faculty positions at the Full Professor, Associate Professor and Postdoctoral level.
