Role Description

Meon Valley Business Travel (MVBT) Ltd is a UK based professional buyer for on and off-line worldwide travel requirements. Founded in 2002, MVBT delivers three core revenue generating specialties of: Leisure, Business and 24 hour Emergency Assistance-Meon’s customers range from Private Clients, Global Brands, SMEs, Corporates and multi-national Insurance and Assistance providers worldwide. 

An exciting opportunity to work as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate has arisen as part of a 24-month KTP with Cranfield University.  This project offers the opportunity to take on research challenges in the application of big data to support the travel industry.  The successful candidate will also enjoy a personal £4,000 development budget.

As a KTP Associate, you will work in conjunction with the Manufacturing Informatics Centre at Cranfield University. The Centre works with industry to overcome barriers to using ICT and deliver proven systems of modelling, simulation and automation in both manufacturing and service environments.

In this role the associate will lead the development of an Internet Service Platform (ISP), addressing the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) New Distribution Capabilities (NDC) regulatory standards for XML based communication that will provide customers with a connected buying experience embedded into any travel movement.

This role requires Web service development knowledge and skills along with computer programming skills in a modern OOP language such as Java/Jakarta EE, C++, and C#. Knowledge of XML, SQL and related technologies are essential. This role will also involve the development of Big Data and associated data management systems. Knowledge and experiences in data analytics, data mining, and machine learning are desirable.

This role would suit an individual with good team working skills and an ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts effectively for complex systems development projects. You will build on a heritage of excellence and become a key team member at MVBT.  Engagement and working with suppliers and customers is actively encouraged from the outset.
