Let’s create the future together

Nottingham Trent University’s strategic vision is focused on ‘Creating the University of the Future’, transforming the lives of our students and through them world in which we live. The University’s Nottingham Institute of Education is making significant investment in academic talent across research, teaching and business engagement. Leading higher education in the UK faces opportunities and challenges. These roles within the Institute give you an opportunity to play a major part in ensuring the Institute leads the way in this changing landscape. These leadership opportunities will give you the platform to transform the future of our students, our colleagues, and our civic and business partners.

Nottingham Institute of Education offers a wide range of programmes in academic studies in education and teacher education. The appointments we are seeking to make will support and enhance a growing research culture. Currently, the Institute has staff engaged in high profile research projects with multiple international partners such as the three-year Erasmus+ LearntoEngage project, and the No-one Left Behind Horizon 2020 project. The Institute also has a significant and growing doctoral community of over 40 PGR students. The Institute is located within the School of Social Sciences, which affords rich opportunities for inter-disciplinary work with colleagues in cognate subject areas and in School-wide research centres such as Nottingham Centre for Young People and Families.

Applications are invited from researchers in any relevant area of education, but are especially welcome from those specialising in policy and leadership; equity and inclusion; and pedagogy. With an established international research profile as evidenced by an outstanding publication record and strength in grant capture, you will have the ability to provide research leadership. This leadership will include stimulating research, mentoring staff and research students, and contributing to strategic planning to further develop our research capacity. You will also be an effective teacher and understand the importance of providing excellent support to students, so good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

We are committed to diversity, contributing to the university’s application for an Athena Swan award, and welcome applications from under-represented groups.
