Head of Student Health
The University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Head of Student Health who will lead and manage the Students’ Health Service as part of the Division of Student Services and in relation to its General Medical Services contract with NHS Bristol. The role also has a clinical commitment of four sessions per week contributing to the provision of full General Practice care for 20,500 student patients, including a significant proportion of mental health related appointments, and provides expert input into the development and operation of student healthcare provision at the University.
We are seeking a qualified General Practitioner (GP) with significant experience managing successful multi-disciplinary teams and recent experience as a GP principal. As Head of Student Health, the appointee will have a good working knowledge of current GMS GP contract, outstanding communication skills and a leadership style that will support and empower colleagues. Experience in practice development, management and innovative working as well as an ability to work effectively with people from diverse and multicultural backgrounds are essential. Specialist skills, experience and qualifications relevant to providing healthcare to young people, in particular; dermatology, mental health, diagnostic skills, sexual health, contraception, travel health, musculoskeletal medicine and IBD would also be beneficial.
