Design Engineer (KTP Associate at Orion Ltd)
Knowledge Transfer Partnership is one of the UK's largest graduate recruitment schemes. This position offers a talented Design Engineer the opportunity to join a fast growing and creative manufacturing organisation with a highly-driven team who are intent on significantly expanding the business.
Orion designs and manufactures Telecom & IT enclosures and cabinets in standard and enhanced configurations generally using passive convection cooling. They service a variety of applications, including network systems, servers, data centres, external applications, ingress protected and acoustic enclosures for office applications. You will lead a project to develop enhanced enclosure cooling using heat transfer computer simulation for forced convection, ducted and liquid cooling system concepts, mentored by a university expert.
Ideally, you will have a Master's degree in an Engineering/Technology subject or equivalent with heat transfer, CFD and CAD. Basic electrical engineering knowledge is desirable. A good first degree with extensive experience is essential.
The company operates an integrated manufacturing plant and a sound understanding of manufacturing processes is desirable. You must be proactive and able to work efficiently, either independently or as part of a team, and have excellent communication skills (including report writing and presentations).
The chosen candidate will be based at the company site although some travel to and from the University will be expected.

Although the appointment is initially for 24 months it is possible that a permanent position will be available within the company upon successful completion of the project.
