Role Description

Cranfield School of Management has long been recognised as a leading centre of excellence for research and teaching in Economics and Finance. Economics at Cranfield has been rated number 1 in the World in 2017 according to the Global MBA ranking published by the Financial Times and has consistently secured a position in the top 6 worldwide over the last decade. Our MSc in Finance & Management programme is currently ranked 6th in the UK, amongst the top Finance Master programmes and our faculty are also key contributors to the Cranfield Master in Management, which is currently number 1 in the UK (both programme rankings according to the Financial Times). There is a thriving research culture in the Centre: our faculty is renowned for the quality of the research produced, we actively support participation in international conferences, supervision of PhDs and networking opportunities with business to consolidate our close links with industry.

The individual appointed will be expected to teach on MSc and MBA programmes as well as deliver a few sessions on doctoral programmes. We are looking for a dynamic and driven academic who will primarily contribute to the continued development of the Economic Policy & Performance Group’s research and teaching activities and who will also play a key role in the wider Finance & Economics Centre initiatives.  We welcome applications from economists, particularly those with a specialisation, or at least interest, in financial economics, who can also demonstrate advanced knowledge of statistics and econometrics.

For this post, the individual should have a PhD (or close to completion) in Economics and teaching experience, ideally at both the graduate and executive education levels. You will have at least a developing research portfolio, with papers published / submitted to high-quality journals, as per the Chartered Association of Business School’s 3* and 4* journal ranking.

Previous work experience with private and/or public sector organisations is a desirable attribute, but it is not essential. A recognised teaching qualification will also normally be held, but if not, you will be required to enrol on a Cranfield-run course to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching, Learning and Development.

For an informal discussion and further details about the position, please contact Professor Catarina Figueira, Professor of Applied Economics & Policy on (E); Catarina.Figueira@cranfield.ac.uk
