The Estates & Capital Development Department supports the University to achieve its core business objectives in education and research.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced M&E Technician to join a busy Maintenance & Engineering Team, within the Estates and Capital Developments Department.

Reporting to the M&E Supervisor you will be a technical champion within the M&E Maintenance trade’s team, leading on complex fault finding/ repair and undertaking safe isolation of infrastructure in-line with University practices at the Aston University Birmingham City Centre campus and Recreation Centre in Walsall.

You will be a High Voltage and Low Voltage Authorised person, working in accordance with practices set by the in-house SAP/ AE as well as leading on all major pipework infrastructure isolations i.e. isolating District Heating mains for outsourced maintenance/ installation works.

Proven experience and a formal qualification as a commercial electrician, plumber or controls engineer is required for the this role. Your experience will be will be electrically biased with a detailed understanding of mechanical services controls. A formal H/LV AP qualification is not required, however the successful completion of formal training courses within the first 6 months of the role is a requirement of the probation period.

You must have good written and spoken communication skills, and are able to work accurately with attention to detail and with a high level of organisation. A strong customer service focus is essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
