About the team: The School of Allied Health is a new and innovative school in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at The University of Western Australia. The School has a growing reputation for teaching excellence and for a strong evidence based approach to education and research that is used for practice development. The School aspires to be a school in which staff and students feel valued and supported in their individual and collective efforts in areas of Allied Health.

The Division of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery is one of four Divisions located in the School. The Division provides the only Western Australian course in podiatric medicine. Teaching at The University of Western Australia Podiatry Clinic includes treatment of both public and private patients. The Division’s research advances knowledge of podiatric practice and surgery.

In addition to Podiatric Medicine and Surgery the School delivers research and teaching via the Divisions of Health Professions Education, Pharmacy and Social Work and Social Policy.

About the opportunity: As Head of the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Division, you will provide leadership in the development and ongoing review of the Division’s operational and strategic plans, have an appropriate qualification in Podiatry and an established track record of academic teaching, accreditation processes, research and administration.

Reporting to the Head of the School of Allied Health, you will play a critical role in the Division's leadership team through the promotion of co-ordinated strategic academic development. You will also promote academic excellence through integrity, inclusiveness, professionalism and community engagement and oversee the development and ongoing review of the Division’s operational and strategic plans.

About you: You will have a PhD or equivalent and hold registration as a Podiatrist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. You will have sound knowledge of and teaching experience in Podiatry within a university environment, an ability to administer and coordinate academic units and programs in teaching and learning (including familiarity with flexible teaching methods such as case-enhanced learning and e-learning) and have experience in undertaking research, peer review and the publication of scientific articles, policies and protocols in podiatry. You will also have experience in the supervision of student research in a university environment and have excellence in management and leadership qualities. In addition, you will demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication, and demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels.
