The Associate Dean Quality and Accreditation, Faculty of Arts and Humanities will join us at a transformational moment; the Faculty has regularly achieved very high levels of student satisfaction, positive employability and league table position. Arts & Humanities has a long-standing and international reputation for its signature programmes and research, in areas such as Automotive Design, Fashion, Dance and Photography, International Relations and Corpus Linguistics; it also has a vibrant array of rising discipline areas such Architecture, Games Design, Digital and Immersive Media and History and Digital Humanities.
We are seeking an inspirational leader who can take us through the next phase of the development of the Faculty's vision: to define a distinctive 21st Century Arts & Humanities education.
The successful applicant must have a PhD, or equivalent, as well as academic credibility built upon achievements through teaching excellence, and research. They should be able to evidence a sound awareness of the external market/environment and the ability to take advantage of opportunities to collaborate and partner with Creative Industry (and other) organisations. They will require a student-centred approach to curriculum and programme development and an understanding of innovative approaches to teaching and learning including the utilisation of online/digital/multi-platform applications. Experience of leading and managing teams - especially in developing and enhancing curriculum - and of dealing with a range of staffing issues and diverse teams in an academic context will also be required, as well as experience of partnership working with external organisations in relation to quality and accreditation. Although not essential, it would be advantageous for applicants to have achieved the Criteria for Principal Fellow within the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education, or a suitable professional body.
