Professor in Marketing/Head of Research Centre
Ref: HR0058494

Salary negotiable depending on experience, salary scale starting from £60,410
Full Time, Permanent

The University of Bradford is a technology university with great strengths.

Our ambition is to build on our heritage and areas of strength, with a vision to be a world leader in:
(a)  the creation of knowledge through fundamental and applied research;
(b)  the dissemination of knowledge by teaching students from all backgrounds;
(c)  the application of knowledge for the prosperity and well-being of people.

This is an exciting time to join the Faculty of Management and Law at the University of Bradford. As an international leader in business and legal education, research and knowledge exchange, we have more than 50 years’ experience of pushing the boundaries, regionally, nationally and internationally. We are proud to have ‘triple accreditation’ from the three leading international bodies, AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. We also perform well in the Financial Times (FT) rankings, and continue to build on our research strengths in readiness for REF 2020. Our activities cover a full spectrum of business disciplines as evidenced through our academic programmes at UG, PGT and PGR. We teach undergraduate, masters and doctoral students, deliver executive education and consultancy and create new knowledge through our research. We are passionate about Making Knowledge Work.

The School of Management has a strong reputation in Marketing and Branding, and seeks a Professor in Marketing to lead a newly created research centre in Marketing, International Business and Branding.
The School of Management is looking for committed and ambitious individuals to lead in readiness for a more inclusive REF2020. These Centres will provide academic leadership and ownership of the curriculum, line-management and day to day responsibility for staff engagement, performance management (including setting objectives) and development. This is a direct move away from a more traditional departmental academic structure. The new School of Management structure will promote a core tenant of the Faculty 10-year vision (2017-2027) that places relevance and research at the centre of the curriculum.

The post(s) requires that each Head is accomplished academic, with success in research and knowledge exchange, as well as an innovative and creative approach to curriculum enhancement. The ability to persuade, influence, motivate, and establish credibility with a wide range of stakeholders; within the organisation and across the sector is essential.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Chartered Institute of Management, and have teaching and research interests aligned across the UG, MSc and MBA programmes in the School. We are particularly interested in hearing from those with knowledge of:

  • Service Marketing
  • Digital Marketing
  • Corporate Branding

The successful candidate will be an established leader with a sustained track record of publishing at 3*-4* level, successful completion of PhD/DBA students and a track record of mentoring staff. The Professor will also be expected to work with senior colleagues on new programme development with an ability to articulate a number of successful interventions to enhance the student experience.
