We are seeking an enthusiastic Post Doctoral Research Fellow with relevant research experience to join our research team on a funded project for an Evaluation of Unforgotten Forces Project, a consortium of organisations who are seeking to help provide and improve services for ex-service men and women over the age of 65. Poppy Scotland will be the lead organisation in this project, which is being funded by the Ministry of Defence.  The aim of the study is to evaluate and advance our understanding of the complex needs of ex-service men and women over 65 years of age.

You will be responsible for supporting the research in a number of ways.  You must be able to carry out comprehensive literature reviews and associated data analysis.  You will be engaged with recruiting participants and conducting structured and follow-up in-depth qualitative interviews/focus groups with key individuals in the partnership and with a sample of their clients accessing these specific services. You will also be involved in the development of a database and analysis of the resultant quantitative data.

The successful candidate will preferably have a PhD in social policy/social justice or related discipline. It is essential that you have previous experience of recruiting participants to research studies and conducting interviews.

Experience of qualitative data analysis is necessary and some knowledge of the challenges for support services for the elderly would be an advantage.

Experience of conducting quantitative data collection is also essential and travel to recruitment and interview sites across Scotland will also be required.

The post holder will be based in either the Paisley/Hamilton Campus.
