Assistant/Associate Professor in Epidemiology and Population Health or Medical Education

Northern Medical Program 

Tenure-Track/Tenured Position

The University of Northern British Columbia, in partnership with UBC, invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with primary teaching and research expectations within the Northern Medical program (NMP). Research experience and interest in the following area is encouraged for the position:

Epidemiology and Population Health or Medical Education.

The ideal start date for the positions is September 2018, subject to budget approval. Essential teaching responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to support the Northern Medical Program and its medical students through program planning, classroom and laboratory teaching, and student mentoring and assessment.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in combination with post-doctoral experience in the specific areas of expertise noted above. In addition, the candidate must hold a record of teaching excellence indicating their potential to contribute to the educational program for medical students, must demonstrate their ability to establish a strong and dynamic independent research program and be able to attract external funding in the Canadian system to support their program. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong research track record that is translational in nature with the ability to collaborate with other scientists and clinical faculty within the institution, health authority and community to foster new and novel approaches which would be considered an asset in the northern and rural context. This will include contributing to the further development of graduate programs in the health sciences at UNBC.

The primary appointment for these positions will be to UNBC, with an affiliate appointment to the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. The successful candidates will collaborate with the respective Departments and faculty at UBC for on-going undergraduate medical curriculum development/delivery, as well as with local clinical faculty.
