Project Officer – Smart Internet Lab
The Smart Internet Lab at the University of Bristol is a hub for internet research which addresses grand societal and industrial challenges. Our researchers perform cutting edge research on optical and wireless communications and offer a unique holistic approach to hardware and software co-design, solving critical problems in the global internet evolution.
We are world leaders in fibre, wireless, and 5G convergence research and recently created a unique 5G Trial Test-Bed for a Smart City, Campus, Region and Telecom Industry, that delivered the world’s first 5G public showcase.
We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated and well-organised project officer who has excellent communication skills and who can build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels of seniority and from different cultural backgrounds as well as from other organisations. You must be comfortable delivering high quality work with little guidance, able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and have great attention to detail.
You will be responsible for the overall management of the £12m EPSRC-funded programme TOUCAN (Towards Ultimate Convergence of All Networks), including contractual and financial matters, and ensuring work packages progress and milestones are met to time. You will prepare reports to meet the funding body’s requirements and design and deliver materials and events to promote the project and to disseminate the outcomes to relevant stakeholders. You will also support the lead academic in managing the project team, and in identifying and developing opportunities for future grants and industry-funded projects. You will also be responsible for managing the research group’s extensive portfolio of research projects and industrial relationships.
You will be a member of the Faculty of Engineering’s Industrial Liaison Office, which will connect you to a support network of around 30 research project managers and other professional staff in similar roles. This post is offered on a full-time, open-ended contract with guaranteed funding until 01 August 2019, and with a possibility of extension.
It is anticipated that interviews will take shortly after the closing date.
Informal enquiries can be made to: Maria Korea, Smart Internet Lab Manager, firstname.lastname@example.org or call +44 (0)117 33 14788.
The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
