Overview

ECU has been at the forefront of teacher education for over 100 years and is the largest School of Education in Western Australia. The School of Education provides up-to-date and progressive courses giving students the opportunity to gather the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience needed to graduate as an outstanding teacher. Courses are available in a range of early childhood, primary and secondary education settings.

We are seeking creative and innovative Primary specialist to enhance our dynamic team of experts in this field. The applicant would have experience both as an academic and in Primary settings. There is the opportunity to work into the Secondary program so experience in Secondary settings is valued. This position will be based at our South West Campus. 

ECU is influential in educational policy and classroom practice at the local, national and international levels. Our course has national standing and prepares educators for all levels of teaching within the Primary years of schooling. As one of the first Primary Discipline’s to introduce specialisation’s we are encouraging applicants with expertise across learning areas to apply. Our team are at the forefront of research in Primary Education in WA, and it is expected that the successful applicants will make a positive contribution to this field.

Selection Criteria

Specifically, we are seeking an established academic with:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (Essential).
  • University experience preferred.
  • Clearly demonstrated leadership skills 
  • Expertise in an identified field and general classroom experience in the Primary context and potentially Secondary context.
  • Ability to teach within identified field/s across Primary and potentially Secondary Learning Areas. Australian Curriculum and SCASA WA, knowledge essential and EYLF and NQS valued.
  • Strong pedagogical approach, experience and expertise in teaching identified field (Learning Area). 
  • Ability to collaborate and work in teams is essential. 
  • Track record in research in an identified field and education (Essential).   

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time, ongoing position attracts a remuneration of $95,979 to $113,978 (Level B) / $117,573 - $135,570 (Level C) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
