The School of Engineering & Computing at UWS is well established and an internationally recognised academic centre. The School is seeking to strengthen its teaching and research expertise through the full-time appointment of a Lecturer in the area of Civil Engineering.

Applicants should have a first degree in Civil Engineering and a higher degree, preferably at PhD level in a relevant discipline. It would also be desirable to hold or be working towards Chartered Engineering status and have membership of an appropriate professional body. Relevant industrial experience and a proven track record in research would be desirable.

Research and/or industrial experience in the fields of geotechnical engineering, land surveying and civil engineering materials and technology is an essential requirement for the post.  Understanding of digital engineering, ground and highway engineering, sustainable construction and health & safety would also be advantageous. The proposed staff member would take the lead in developing new teaching materials in the subject area as well as establishing appropriate research and commercial activities particularly with the civil engineering sector. The post holder may also be asked to take on a programme leadership role within the group.

The successful candidate will be based at our Paisley Campus and will contribute to teaching and research activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate level across the School. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to our outreach activities promoting STEM subjects and our international academic activities as required.
