Job Description

The Postdoctoral Associate for Graduate Student Professional Development is a training position designed to prepare a new PhD graduate for a career pathway in academic administration, with a focus on developing, implementing, and assessing professional development opportunities. This position will support the expansion of programming directed at PhD students that can be offered by the Office of the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs in collaboration with Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs and will jointly report to those offices. The postdoctoral associate will work with stakeholders across the University to coordinate professional development initiatives and minimize duplication of efforts, as well as identify graduate student skill needs. They will also work collaboratively with the Director of Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs and BU faculty to backward design, create content for, and implement new workshops and short courses.

Required Skills

Doctoral Degree. Position requires strong teaching and facilitation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across many diverse disciplines and backgrounds. Experience designing curriculum is desired. The position requires proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat. Employee must have strong organization, writing, and interpersonal skills, and an ability to thrive in a complex environment.
