The Quantum Technology Enterprise Centre (QTEC) represents a world-first for quantum enterprise training – a world-leading Centre to train entrepreneurially-minded, quantum systems engineers, ready for a career in the emerging quantum technology industry . As part of the University of Bristol’s multi-disciplinary Quantum Engineering Technology Labs (QET Labs), this high profile and unique training centre is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and delivered in partnership with Cranfield University's Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to take up an exciting new role within QTEC’s core operations and delivery team. Working closely with the Enterprise Deputy Director, Jane Garrett, and the outward focused QTEC Centre Manager, Andy Collins, the QTEC Programme – Research Project Manager will have an inward focus and take responsibility for delivering, developing, and supporting the different elements of the entire QTEC training programme alongside colleagues at Cranfield University and will help ensure a high-quality training experience for our Quantum Enterprise Fellows.

At a high level, the QTEC Programme - Research Project Manager will support the administrative running of the Centre including strategic and operational planning, managing communications, supporting QTEC’s annual recruitment drive, and taking responsibility for event management and promotion (such as delivering the Start Something seminar series). On a day-to-day basis they will manage QTEC’s online presence (web, online portal, and social media), monthly newsletter, daily programme logistics, and be expected to help develop the programme over the lifetime of the Centre based on the feedback and response received from fellows and industrial partners after every cohort. The Project Manager will also facilitate effective interaction with our network of partners, including the UK National Network of Quantum Technology Hubs and other academic and industrial partners.

The position offers an exceptional career opportunity for the right person to play a key role in the development and delivery of a strategically important enterprise centre at the University of Bristol. It will provide a unique experience of scientific, enterprise, network and more general administration in a world-class research and training environment. In addition, there is ample opportunity to join some of the training and seminars to build your own skills in entrepreneurship and enterprise.

QTEC is based in Unit DX – a scientific innovation centre for start-ups, SMEs and industrial teams requiring flexible, high-spec lab space in a city centre location – and is part of the Quantum Engineering Technology Labs (QETLabs). The post is offered full-time with funding available until 31st March 2021. Please note that the successful candidate must be able to start within 2 months of the interview date.

For more information, please direct informal enquiries to Dr Andy Collins (, QTEC Centre Manager, or Jane Garrett (, QTEC Deputy Enterprise Director.
