The Department of Music at Royal Holloway seeks to appoint an outstanding rising scholar to a full-time Lectureship in Music. The post is tenable from 1 September 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointee will be a versatile musicologist with experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses successfully in either of the following broad areas: video game music, popular music, or jazz studies (to support programmes being developed for Royal Holloway’s new Centre for Digital Creativity). They will also be able to contribute to other historical or theoretical courses. The successful candidate will be an experienced and inspiring teacher, who will be expected to contribute to the development of the Department’s programmes at undergraduate and master’s levels. (This post is not suitable for a candidate who has only just completed their PhD. Some experience teaching in a department as staff is also essential.)
As Royal Holloway’s is a leading Music research department, the appointee will contribute to and enhance its national and international status in their own field of research. They will also be required to contribute to the academic administration of the department and attend departmental committees and sub-committees.

This is a permanent full-time post based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
