UCD School of Earth Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Quaternary Geology from September 1st 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.  Candidates must possess a PhD in Geology or Earth Sciences, and have an outstanding track record of published scientific research for their career stage, with a specialisation in Quaternary Geology or a closely related field (e.g. remote sensing, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeological and/or geochemical properties of glacial tills and other unconsolidated deposits, palaeo-environmental/palaeoclimate reconstruction, marine geology and Quaternary geochronology).  

Candidates must be able and willing to lead field classes in Quaternary Geology. The appointed person will be an enthusiastic university teacher who can contribute to the existing Geology BSc degree, to new Minor programmes in collaboration with the UCD School of Geography and the UCD School of Archaeology and to other planned undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  The successful candidate will develop an independent externally funded research programme and will supervise research students.

95 Lecturer/Assistant Professor (above the bar) Salary Scale:  €52,325 - €82,267 per annum 
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
