Director, UNSW Futures
Global challenges. Robust platforms. Real and tangible impact.
Established in 1949, UNSW is already one of the world’s leading universities, currently ranked 45th in the world (QS ranking) and distinguished by pioneering research with a focus on the scientific, technological and professional disciplines. UNSW is currently implementing its 2025 strategy and its ambition for the next decade is nothing less than to establish UNSW as Australia’s global university.
UNSW Futures presents a bold new framework for addressing humanity’s major challenges through innovative inter-disciplinary and cross-faculty research. Launching this year, the UNSW Futures initiative will provide a framework for facilitating cross-faculty and cross-disciplinary work, driving innovative approaches to research, addressing scientific and social challenges, and positioning UNSW as a big picture visionary university of the future. The creation and implementation of this initiative represents the 2025 strategy in action.
The University is seeking the inaugural Director to lead this exciting and innovative framework. Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research), the Director will be tasked to develop research initiatives to address paramount scientific and societal challenges and forge UNSW’s reputation as a visionary university. The appointee will ideally be an outstanding researcher with evidence of international academic impact in one or more of the University’s key research disciplines and with demonstrable inter-disciplinary research leadership experience.
