The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications
The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications has a vibrant research culture reflected in the achievements of its academic staff, and is currently rated as a level 5 ERA School (“Well above world standard”) in each of the 2010, 2012 and 2015 Excellence in Research Australia evaluations. The School enjoys a world-leading reputation for research excellence, with six IEEE Fellows among our 44 academic staff. According to the Shanghai Jiaotong 2016 rankings, EE&T@UNSW is placed first in Australia. The School has innovated significantly by introducing the first 5-year integrated bachelors/masters (with minor) and first (non-conversion) 2-year accredited masters programs, each with a major component of engineering design. These innovations have positioned the School in a period of very strong growth. Nationally, the School offers the most complete range of undergraduate and postgraduate electrical engineering and telecommunications programs, and is the largest of its kind. About the role
We are recruiting for an exceptional candidate into the School’s research priority area of Distributed Power Networks. The role will conduct high impact research in distributed power networks, renewable energy grid integration, microgrid/nanogrid, and power system stability and planning as well as data analytics applications to smart grid systems. The candidate will be collaborating closely with other colleagues in energy systems research and other areas of the School of EE&T to deliver outstanding teaching and student experience in the discipline of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications build industry engagement and contribute significantly to the leadership, service and engagement missions of the School and Faculty.
The appointment would be:
- at level B ($103K - $121K), at level C ($125K - $143K), or at level D (149K - $164K) (plus 17% superannuation and leave loading) per annum, commensurate with academic qualifications and experience,
- full time,
- to a Convertible Tenure Track Employment Contract for an initial fixed term period for 5 years, with conversion to continuing appointment based on satisfactory performance and there being sufficient productive work available.
The Faculty reserves the right to offer an appointment on a continuing basis or to directly appoint to advertised positions.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has:
- a PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- a proven track record in research and attracting competitive research funding
- evidence of delivering high quality and innovative teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
- a demonstrated passion for strongly contributing to the core functions of School and Faculty, and to collaborating across disciplines and with industry
