Queensland University of Technology is a young, dynamic and ambitious university, with a global outlook and ‘real-world’ focus. Ranked in the top 25 global universities under 50 years old, QUT is Australia’s fastest growing research university, well known for its strong industry connections.

The Institute for Future Environments (IFE) is one of QUT’s flagship transdisciplinary research institutes, studying the natural, built and virtual environments. IFE brings together hundreds of outstanding researchers and students across all disciplines to collaborate on large-scale projects generating knowledge, technology and practices that make our world more sustainable, secure and resilient.

IFE is now searching for a new Director to succeed Professor Bronwyn Harch. He or she will provide leadership in developing and enhancing the Institute’s ability to deliver cutting-edge research that addresses grand societal challenges, harnesses QUT’s research and infrastructure capability strengths, and nurtures productive partnerships to develop and deploy real-world solutions for industry, government and the community.

Reporting to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and supporting the research strategy of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Commercialisation, the appointee will demonstrate complex leadership experience in guiding transdisciplinary research and in building a joint agenda, culture and platforms for research that bring to bear the insights gained from multiple disciplines. We are seeking an entrepreneurial, visionary and dynamic individual capable of inspiring minds of the highest calibre. The future incumbent will enjoy engaging with business, government and other industries outside of academia to advocate for and ensure that the Institute for Future Environments delivers high quality and relevant research.
