Lecturer in the Chinese Language Centre (CLC)
Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Chinese Language Centre (CLC) of the School of Chinese, to commence on September 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
The Centre has a solid reputation of excellence in language teaching and offers a wide variety of Cantonese and Putonghua courses for learners from diverse academic, professional and social backgrounds. Relevant information on the Centre is available at http://www.hku.hk/chinese/.
Applicants should possess an M.Phil. degree or above in Chinese Linguistics or related areas, and have 5 years' post-qualification experience in teaching Cantonese at the university level. The ability to employ the second language pedagogy, to develop curriculum, and to coordinate various Cantonese courses is required. A native command of Cantonese and a high level of proficiency in English and Putonghua are preferred. The mastery of the Jyutping system will be an advantage. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
