The School of Engineering and Applied Science has a focus on designing and delivering professionally relevant programmes and research informed teaching to help to prepare our graduates to enter and impact industry. Our optional paid professional placement year allows our students to exploit our connections with business and industry, and put theory into practice in real world scenarios. The Engineering Systems and Management Group (ESM) is one of six departments and we are seeking a lecturer (2 posts) in either Logistics or Transport (or closely aligned fields).

The lecturer is required to continue the development of ESM’s full time and work based degree programmes, inputting to teaching and to teaching excellence, and to be part of ESM’s REF2020 research submission. They will also be expected to undertake programme director duties as appropriate.
Applicants should be able to evidence research achievement and teaching excellence in logistics, transport or a closely aligned field of study. They should be able to show a willingness to take on programme director duties, occasional overseas teaching and be able to engage with employer groups. Applicants should hold a suitable teaching qualification and a PhD in a relevant discipline.

The minimum period for which initial appointments are made is normally five years. However, the normal expectation is that Lecturers will transfer to a continuing appointment during this period on demonstrating acceptable performance in their research, teaching and other duties.
