The CUHK Business School, a leading business school and a pioneer in business education in Hong Kong, now seeks to appoint a high calibre candidate to the position of Administrative Director (Student Experience and Development). 

Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1963, the CUHK Business School has gained world recognition of nurturing business leaders with immense contributions in Asia Pacific. The School has been offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (MBA, MSc, EMBA, MPhil, PhD) with over 4,600 students, as well as executive education. It has one of the most extensive alumni network in the region, with over 34,000 alumni around the world.

Among all the master’s programmes offered by the School, the full-time MBA is a highly selective programme, with an intake of around 80 students per year, and is ranked globally. The students are an internationally diverse group of highly motivated professionals. The part-time MBA programme caters to the needs of working professionals in Hong Kong and southern part of China and their needs are centred on leadership development.  On top of these two programmes, in the last couple of years, various departments/schools of the Faculty have launched specialised Masters Programmes, including the Master of Science in Management (MiM) programme. With a variety of background and academic interest, these students often have high expectations on learning experience and development during their journey of studies. 

Reporting to the Director of MBA Programmes and Associate Dean (Graduate Programmes), the Administrative Director (Student Experience and Development) is expected to supervise a specialised team in the development and delivery of programme excellence, with the goal of supporting all MBA and MiM programmes in surpassing their expectations and achieving high student satisfaction, to be measured by year-end survey and global ranking exercises, and to:

(i)    oversee administration of academic content process and delivery, including scheduling, planning and delivering of face-to-face, online, as well as workshops of MBA and MiM programmes;
(ii)    oversee/ lead all co-curricular activities, including exchanges, ceremonial events, company/ alumni talks, study trips and other such projects as assigned;
(iii)    assist the Associate Dean (Graduate Programmes) to develop curriculum plan;
(iv)    establish and execute programme policies and serve as secretary for the programme-related committees and boards;
(v)    work closely with the Marketing and Recruitment Team in the screening and selection of candidates, and the development and management of admission processes;
(vi)    collaborate with Graduate Career Management Team on development and management of students societies, business competitions, student-led conferences, business practicums, career treks, etc.;
(vii)    oversee preparation of budgets and annual reports.
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

(a)    a Master’s degree, preferably an MBA;
(b)    a minimum of twelve years’ post-degree work experience, including experience in operation and programme management, admission/ recruitment in tertiary education sector;
(c)    ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to maintain positive rapport with a diverse group of high-performing students, and to support them in their learning journey;
(d)    excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to interact and form lasting relationships with students, alumni and senior business leaders;
(e)    excellent written and verbal communication in English; good command of Chinese (in Cantonese and/ or Putonghua) would be an advantage.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for two years initially commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
