The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB) is one of the largest and most successful schools in the Faculty of Science, with a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and research that encompasses the disciplines of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Microbiology. The School is home to more than 60 continuing academic staff, around 100 research staff, 24 administrative officers, 28 technical staff, 250 postgraduate coursework students and 200 higher degree by research students. The School also hosts a number of research centres, including the Centre for Organic Photonics and Electronics, the Australian Infectious Diseases Research Centre, the Australian Centre for Ecogenomics Research and the Centre for Metals in Biology.
The positions will facilitate practical classes, workshops or other small group contact sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences. Hours will vary according to the class timetable. Classes typically run 9:50am-12:50pm and 1:50- 4:50pm on some or all of the weeks between 23 July and 26 October. A commitment for the whole of the semester is required. Some training is provided. The 2018 pay rate is $43.71 per hour ($52.27 for PhD-qualified).
Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree majoring in the discipline they seek to demonstrate. Applicants will also have either relatively recent experience with the course material or a demonstrated capacity to become familiar with the material within a short period of time. Applicants may be studying at Honours or postgraduate level at The University of Queensland or another university, or be working as a Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Fellow. Applicants may have taught in their field at a significant level in the past and are looking to return to the workforce.

These are casual positions at an hourly rate of $43.71 per hour ($52.27 for PhD- qualified) (2018 casual pay rates).
