Founded in 1872 as the first college of the University of Melbourne (UoM), Trinity College is a unique tertiary institution providing a range of academic programs for talented students from Australia and around the world. Trinity consists of the Pathways School, a Residential College for UoM students, and the Theological School. The College has just completed a comprehensive strategic planning process which will see a continued expansion of the College’s size, its programs and social impact.
The Pathway School includes Trinity College Foundation Studies, a unique course preparing international students for undergraduate entry to the UoM and other leading Australian universities; a BA (Extended) pathway for Indigenous students; and a Young Leaders Program for secondary school students. The Pathways School has experienced exceptional growth over the past decade with peak enrolments of over 2000 students in 2017 partly accommodated in the new Gateway Building on the Trinity campus. The School has ambitious plans for future growth in student enrolments as well as diversification of programs, as part of the Trinity strategic plan.
The College is seeking a dynamic and far-sighted individual to lead the Pathways School into the next phase of its growth and diversification. The Dean is responsible for Trinity’s Pathways School and will ensure the effective delivery of these programs and lead the development and implementation of new programs. The Dean will focus on strategic planning, building and maintaining key relationships in Asia and elsewhere, enhancing partnerships with the University of Melbourne, and supporting engagement of the Pathways School alumni.The Dean will make a strong and collegial contribution to the overall leadership of Trinity College, especially through membership of the Senior Management Team.
Applications are encouraged from exceptional educational leaders with extensive understanding of pre-tertiary or tertiary international education sectors; knowledge of TEQSA and legislation controlling international education; and an understanding of the social, economic, academic and cultural factors affecting countries which may impact enrolments. A strategic commercial outlook, exceptional relationship management skills, the capacity to drive high performance and to ensure an outstanding student experience, will be critical. Integrity, discretion and collegiality with an enthusiasm and interest in international students will ensure success.
