Sheffield Hallam University is one of the UK’s leading modern universities; it was ranked 5th for research quality out of all UK modern Universities following the results of the Research Excellence Framework 2014. The University has an ambitious research and knowledge exchange (RKE) strategy focused on building a strong RKE culture, increasing RKE income and supporting research that has real-world impact. To support delivery of this strategy, an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Research and Innovation Office for a Research Funding Coordinator to join the pre-award Grants and Systems Team.

Working as part of the team you will play a crucial role supporting delivery of the University's RKE strategy, supporting processes for, and the submission of, a portfolio of research grant applications, with specific focus on improving the quality of proposals to a wide range of research funders including; UK Research Councils, international funding programmes (e.g. Global Challenges Research Fund), charities and public bodies including the NHS. You will also support a programme of staff development activities and the quality assurance of research management information.

A proven track record of research support activities is essential, as you will take a lead role in disseminating funding intelligence; providing advice on the preparation and costing of research bids and liaising with external funding bodies and collaborators. You will be an excellent team player with the ability and self-confidence to use your own initiative and work independently when necessary. Good communication skills are essential in this role, alongside the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work effectively.
