Cranfield Aerospace represents one of the largest academic centres in Western Europe for strategic applied research, development and design within aerospace. Within this activity the Applied Aerodynamics Group operates a range of subsonic, transonic and hypersonic wind tunnel facilities which support MSc, PhD and Short Course provision as well as a diverse research project portfolio within the School.

We are seeking to recruit a high calibre individual with expertise in Experimental Aerodynamics including practical experience with advanced instrumentation, measurement and flow diagnostic systems. You will support the operation and future development of the laboratory whilst providing specialist expertise to support existing and future research projects which utilise the wind tunnel facilities. You will be expected to support the postgraduate teaching provision and to supervise MSc thesis projects.

You will be a confident and independent researcher with a PhD (or close to completion) in, or closely related to, experimental aerodynamics, be able to demonstrate practical problem solving skills related to specialist instrumentation, data acquisition and data processing systems and have experience with specialist data acquisition and control software such as LabVIEW.

You will be able to work closely with our industrial partners who use the wind tunnel facilities and you will be able to support the preparation of research proposals that deliver innovative solutions to address a wide range of applied problems in aerodynamics from sectors including; aerospace, environment, defence and automotive.
