The Animal Technician will provide exceptional animal care for all multiple species of research animals. The incumbent will maintain and provide proper sanitization of all animal equipment, research facility and materials. Strictly follow all institutional, local, state, federal regulations, policies and procedures to assure proper animal health and welfare provided for animals. Responsible for performance of basic animal husbandry for USDA/ regulated species consisting of nonhuman primate, swine, rabbit, chinchilla, guinea pig, hamster, other USDA species. Responsible for performing basic animal care inclusive of Animal Biosafety Levels 1 &2 plus Chemical Containment Levels: CCL-1, CCL-2, CCL-3.
High school diploma or GED, 1-2 years’ experience, prefer AALAS ALAT Certification (Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician)
