Five positions available within the Faculty of Engineering

As part of the Faculty’s Advanced Apprenticeship Training Program, the Faculty of Engineering wish to recruit five Trainee Technicians under the government’s Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme. The trainees will undertake a full time 4 year apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering commencing Monday September 3rd 2018.

Successful candidates will receive practical training in the Faculty’s extensively equipped engineering workshops and broad based training on a range of standard engineering processes, all from experienced qualified engineering technicians.

This initial basic training is undertaken over the first 4 months followed by focused specialist training within the designated areas of the Faculty, allowing the trainees to build on their new practical skills and knowledge in a specialist engineering discipline. 

There will be opportunities over the apprenticeship period to learn and train on a wide range of cutting edge manufacturing processes including CNC machining, Computer Aided Design [CAD], Computer Aided Manufacture [CAM], Composites Manufacturing and Materials Testing.

Formal academic training will be achieved via a day release program at Nottingham College where successful applicants will be expected to progress to HNC level in a specific engineering discipline.

Applicants should have, or be expected to achieve a minimum of, 5 GCSEs at grade A to C including Maths, English and Science, preferably all at grade B or above, 

The successful candidates should be enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills and techniques working within a team of highly skilled technicians, with the ability to show attention to detail and rise to the challenge this prestigious opportunity presents.

This is a full time, 36.25 hours per week, position.
