Post-Doctoral Position in Large Mammal Spatial Behaviour and Spatial Ecology

Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, is searching for a researcher (Post-Doctoral Position) to new project: “Supporting the development of international mobility of research staff at CULS Prague”, reg. no. CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_027/0008366.
The aim of the project, co-financed by EU, managing authority Operational Program Research, Development and Education, is to support the development of international mobility of research staff at CULS Prague.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Research on spatial ecology and behaviour of large mammals (red deer, wild boar, sika deer, roe deer) and biological, ecological and anthropogenic effects on free living ungulates with emphasis to behaviour response on the management measures applied by hunters, farmers, foresters and state authorities to minimize spreading and transmission wildlife diseases.  You will work independently and as part of a larger team of researchers, making a significant contribution to the dissemination of research results through publications, presentation at scientific meetings and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Carries out R&D activities within the assigned sub-tasks and is encouraged to take part in further fundraising with senior scientists;
•    Cooperates with and supervises students of the research centre in the field of his/her expertise;
•    Publishes the results of his/her work in good international journals;
•    Reports to sub-project coordinator.

Requirements: 

•    Completed Ph.D. education or appropriate level 8 of ISCED qualification completed within the last 7 years. 
•    The applicant has worked outside of the Czech republic for at least 2 years as a researcher (0,5 contract or more) or has studied doctoral studies during the last 3 years. 
•    The applicant has already published 3 peer reviewed research outputs during the last 3 years. 
•    Research experiences at: spatial ecology and/or behavioural biology and/or wildlife biology.
•    Evidence of publication activity at the level of international, good impact factor publications; Excellent English communication 
•    All research activities will be conducted in English; knowledge of the Czech language is not required. 

Position duration, starting date and salary: 

The duration of the position is 23 months, starting in September 2018. The gross monthly salary starts at 62 000 CZK (circa 2 437 EUR) including health insurance and social security cover.

•    A brief description of the research that the post-doc will work on, including justification for the study and its contribution to the field
