The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.
The Role & Your Responsibilities
The Senior Learning Designer will play a critical role in supporting RMIT's 21st Century Credentials (21CC) initiative. 21CC is developing micro-credentials that are at the cutting edge of new technologies and methods of recognising learning and skill. In this role you will design and develop micro-credentials that provide new opportunities for RMIT students to acquire and demonstrate industry-valued transferable skills.
The Senior Learning Designer will work with RMIT internal stakeholders as well as industry partners to develop sustainable, accessible and high quality learning resources, activities and experiences. You will incorporate evidence-based educational design principles that are consistent with RMIT's policies and skills based learning methodologies. In this position, you will identify effective, innovative, aligned and fit-for-purpose curriculum design requirements, basing learning and assessment activities on pre-determined learning outcomes. The successful applicant will have a comprehensive understanding of the role technology plays in enhancing both the student experience and student outcomes, and be able to identify the learning tools which align with best practice in the context of a scalable micro-credential learning environment.
Skills & Experience Required
As the successful candidate you will demonstrate the ability to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and skills transfer. You will also have a proven delivery experience in learning design and with instructional technology. Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models and a solid knowledge of at least one Learning Management System will be highly desirable. In addition, a proven ability to manage competing workflows and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment will be imperative to your success in this role.
