The Department of the Natural and Built Environment (NBE) will play a vital role in achieving this, bringing together the disciplines of Geography, Environment Science and Planning, along with Architecture and the Built Environment, to focus on understanding, designing and building space and place. 

As Head of Geography, Environment and Planning, your academic leadership will develop a thriving team, rooted in research and professional scholarship, to offer an outstanding student experience across our Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Geography, Human Geography, the Environment, Planning and Geographical Information Systems. As part of the Department’s senior leadership team, you will work with your Deputy Head of Subject, organising and delegating to deliver high impact outcomes in line with key strategic objectives:

  • Shaping Futures - through excellent academic provision and securing high student satisfaction
  • Leading Locally and Engaging Globally – by widening the horizons of our students and partners in local and international markets
  • Creating Knowledge - through developing the Subject Group's research capability

The post offers an opportunity for you to develop your experience of academic leadership and scholarship. Line management experience isn't essential however you must have the ability to coordinate teams and individuals to design and deliver innovative, high quality, vibrant and challenging learning experiences which are aligned with strategic goals (including student employability)
