Teaching Fellow in German Literature and Language
The School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Royal Holloway University of London seeks to appoint a 0.5 Teaching Fellow to join our German team.
The successful applicant will ideally have or be near to completing a PhD in German Studies, and have some relevant teaching experience in German culture and/or language. A high level of competence in German language is essential for this role. Expertise in twentieth-century and contemporary German literature and culture is desirable. Many of our German courses are open to students of Comparative Literature and Culture, so comparative interests would be very welcome.
The Fellow will deliver 4 hours of undergraduate courses covering modern German literature alongside 1-2 hours of German language teaching (translation from German). The courses in question are all well established and a full online module structure, including reading lists, set readings, assignment topics and pre-prepared presentations, is available for each via our online learning platform Moodle. There may be some scope for shaping course content according to preferences and areas of expertise of the appointed Fellow.
In addition to teaching and examining duties the Fellow will be expected to take on administrative duties in proportion with the role, with appropriate support from the Programme Director and experienced colleagues.
In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities. This is a part time, fixed term post available until August 2019 based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Jon Hughes (firstname.lastname@example.org)
