  • Salary range: $85,680 - $91,969 pro rata per annum (plus super)

About the Role 

The School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences is the largest information and communications technology provider in South Australia, and is home to several research centres: The Advanced Computing Research Centre, Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Institute for Telecommunications Research and Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre. All four have state-of-the-art facilities with world renowned links and associations that provide a dynamic teaching and research base for our students.

In this position, you will pursue research in modelling of water and salt transport in plants in collaboration with the Director: Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre. You will perform and interpret simulations of salt and water transport in plant roots to identify and localise possible genetic transporters for improved salt tolerance, and subsequently publish results in high impact factor, peer reviewed journals. 

Skills and Experience 

To be eligible for this position, you will have a PhD degree in mathematical modelling of plant biophysical or physiological processes with skills and experience in working with modelling of salt and water transport in plant tissues and organs. You will also have a good record of peer reviewed publications and conference presentations commensurate with opportunity.

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent project management, communication and collaboration skills to work in a research team with staff, students and external providers from diverse backgrounds.
