LECTURER IN SOCIOLOGY

FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL 31ST JULY 2019
£33,518 - £36,613 PER ANNUM

The Department of Social and Political Science offers a range of taught programmes within the broad area of the Social Sciences. The Department seeks to appoint a Lecturer who will contribute to teaching, learning and assessment on the Sociology programme. Specifically you will be required to teach across a number of modules including Research Methods and Sociology of Emotion. You will hold a PhD or be willing to achieve one within an agreed timescale. You should have a thorough knowledge of theory and an ability to critically relate theory to policy and practice. 

A record of research and publication, or evidence of the potential to develop research and publication is desirable. In addition, you will demonstrate the ability to complement existing sociology teaching team and be a good team player. As well as teaching experience, knowledge of both curriculum development and quality assurance procedures would be highly desirable. You are expected to play a full part in the department’s philosophy to provide an excellent experience for students which includes having a visible presence.
